how do you tune your guitar to play breathe by taylor swift?


I just restarted playing guitar, so i have some background knowledge. I knows where to find the chords for the song (but if you could include another place where you found the chords also, that would help) but i need to figure out how to tune my guitar to make it to… I think it’s either called Standard tuning or Capo on sixth fret. I have a piano that can help me find the right pitches, if that helps you find the best tuning method to help me. If you would give me a detailed description on how to properly tune my guitar, I’d be really happy.

Standard tuning (from big strings to small strings) is E-A-D-G-B-E. That’s what the guitar strings should play when you play them open (don’t fret / press down any of the strings). Normally it’s best to use an electronic tuner. If you don’t have one, you should buy one (1st link for some examples). If you have a microphone attached to your computer/laptop, you can use an online electronic tuner (2nd link).

The “capo on 6th fret” refers to using a capo and clamping it on the 6th fret of the guitar, an example shown in the 3rd link. A popular brand is Keyser (see 4th link).

Once you put the capo on 6th fret, you play everything relative to that capo. In other words, you treat that capo like the zero fret of the guitar.
